Past Charity Projects
Here’s a brief overview of our recent charity projects:
EAST 13 - Supporting the Förderverein Tierpark Suhl e.V. with a Donation of €14,200
Founded on January 19, 1994, the Förderverein Tierpark Suhl e.V. (Support Association of Animal Park Suhl) plays a vital role in preserving Suhl Zoo, which has been home to around 100 animal species since its opening in 1969. The association’s mission is to make the zoo even more attractive for the city of Suhl and its visitors while promoting knowledge about the animals and their natural habitats. Since its establishment, the association has worked to share responsibility for the continued success of this popular local institution, secure additional sources of funding, and attract new partners to help achieve its various objectives.
EAST 13’s donation will be used to expand and enhance the porcupine enclosure. Previously shared with the red foxes, the enclosure will be doubled in size, providing the porcupines with significantly more space. In addition, new landscape features and a more natural habitat design will create greater environmental enrichment and encourage the animals’ natural behaviors. Construction is scheduled to begin at the end of July 2026.
EAST 7 bis EAST 12 – Unterstützung des Tierschutzvereins Tierisch Grenzenlos e.V. mit Spenden von insgesamt 38.800€
Der 2010 gegründete Tierschutzverein Tierisch Grenzenlos e.V. widmet sein ehrenamtliches Engagement vorrangig den Tieren in Not.
- Unterstützung verschiedener Tierschutz-Projekte auf Lesbos, in Larisa und Patras in Griechenland
- Organisation von Futterspenden und Aufbau eines Futterlagers, Ausbau der Frischwasserversorgung, verschiedene Bauarbeiten in und um den Auffangstationen (sog. „Shelter“)
- Medizinische und Physiotherapeutische Versorgung, Kastrationsangebote und -aktionen für Straßentiere, Akut-Behandlung von Verletzungen, Organisieren von EU-Pässen und Reisetauglichkeitsprüfungen
- Soforthilfe für notleidende Tiere bei der Flutkatastrophe von Thessalien (September 2023) und Erdbeben in Vrisa (Anfang 2024)
- Organisation und Durchführung der Bamberger Tiertafel seit August 2024
EAST 6 - Support for the Storchenhof Vogelschutzwarte Loburg e.V. with a donation of €1900
The dedicated staff there take care of:
- Providing medical care for storks
- Raising young animals and releasing them into the wild
- Providing shelter for non-flying animals
EAST 5 - Support for the Tierheim Dessau-Roßlau with a donation of €750
The Dessau and Umgebung Animal Welfare Association operates the Dessau Animal Shelter and covers the following areas:
- Rehoming animals to new homes
- Admission and medical care for pets of all kinds at the Dessau Animal Shelter
- Care and neutering of feral cats
- Dog walking sessions with shelter dogs
The donation from EAST 5 benefited the Dessau Animal Shelter and was used to expand the shelter.
EAST 4 - Support for the Pfötchenverein Dessau-Roßlau with a donation of €700.00.
The Pfötchenverein Dessau-Roßlau offers the following services for the region:
- A food bank for needy pet owners
- A pet visiting service for nursing homes and daycares
- Lectures and project days on animal welfare
- Rehoming animals to new homes or foster care
EAST 3 - Support for the Förderverein Zoos Aschersleben with a donation of €303.43
As a partner of the Species Conservation Foundation, this organization is involved in the rescue of critically endangered species, such as the Roloway Diana Monkey and the Ethiopian Wolf. Additionally, the zoo participates in international breeding programs, such as those for the Roloway Diana Monkey and the Golden-headed Lion Tamarin.
Furthermore, as a partner of the WWF, the supporting association sponsors a Siberian Tiger in eastern Russia and helps to curb deforestation and poaching there.
